Newborns

Although I certainly enjoy capturing the fun and beauty in every stage of childhood, there's something very special about those first few days. Here's a little bit of my views on newborn portraiture and why it's so important.

I love newborns. There, I said it. There is something so completely magical about the newborn period that I just adore. I think much of it is the fact that this tiny little being seems so perfect and so out of place in our world for those first few days. The "adjustment period" of the newborn stage is so fleeting for both babies and parents. We look at our toddlers and children and wonder if they were really ever so tiny and still and quiet? Let's drink in the newborn stage in any way we can and capture it in portraits to hold on to as a testament to those early days.

Photographing newborns is something I feel priviledged to be a part of. The precious newborn stage races by us in just a few days and, as parents, we are too busy and tired to really appreciate the beauty of our little ones as they become accustomed to the world. Capturing that tiny newness in a photograph is my goal and I'm always thrilled to be a part of helping to celebrate a new little life!
If you or a friend are expecting and are interested in a newborn session, please contact me early. I'm happy to answer any questions you might have.
